This is an exceptional opportunity for an agronomy professional and natural leader. Working as part of the Club's management team to fulfill the Club's Mission and Vision, the position will directly oversee the Golf Course maintenance staff and grounds operations. The position reports directly to the Superintendent of Grounds.


Club Facilities

Congress Lake is an exclusive private country club located in the greater Akron/Cleveland metropolitan area. The Club, one of the oldest in Ohio, has about 400 members and features a 900-acre property with 87 upscale residences; its historic course was originally designed by Willie Park Jr. and completely re-made by Donald Ross in 1927; over the last 10 years, the Club's Golf Course Master Plan, developed with Forse Design has brought back much of the original Ross layout; the course has a proud history of maintaining pristine golfing conditions for its members; 11,000 annual member rounds with limited guest play. Other amenities include a 300-acre private Lake for boating, sailing, and fishing; a resort style swimming pool, racquet sports including 6 Har-tru courts, 2 platform courts, and tennis facility; and a 50,000 square foot clubhouse with indoor and outdoor dining, banquet facilities, 10 overnight guest rooms, 2 kitchens, and various F & B outlets. $7M in annual Club revenue.

Qualifications:  Position Duties

Enforces the Club's standard procedures for course and overall property operations

Directly oversees, hires, and trains staff

Strong observational skills, detail oriented

Experience implementing standard operating procedures and training programs 

Excellent communication skills-listens to and responds to both club members and team members

High Golf IQ is essential

Maintains a professional image that represents The Congress Lake Club in and outside of the workplace


Position Qualifications

Personal traits: leadership, change management, integrity, creativity, ambition, extroverted, detail oriented, and multi-tasker, positive, team oriented, and get it done personality

Proven history of providing consistent, exceptional golfing conditions and managing all aspects of the golf course and landscape at the highest level

Stable job history with a history of progressive career growth

Professional degree required

History of active GCSAA involvement and active pursuit of certification

Proficient technology skills including all M/S programs, timekeeping systems, and applicable industry specific programs

Verifiable, progressive leadership and management experience at a similar private club or resort required.
Compensation:  $50-$55 annually DOE
