Description: Youngstown Country Club is looking for a qualified Assistant Superintendent that will work along side the Superintendent to plan and execute daily operations and evaluate current agronomic programs/procedures. The daily role of the Assistant includes disease and insect scouting, participating in daily maintenance, crew management, irrigation scheduling and repair and application of pesticides/nutrients. The goal of this position is to prepare the Assistant to be capable of advancing his/her career to a Superintendent position.
Responsibilities:
- Train Personnel in all aspects of golf course maintenance
- Supervise the crew
- Assist in planning and executing mowing, irrigation schedules
- Assist with pesticide/fertilizer applications and keep records/inventory
- Manage soil moisture levels daily
- Diagnose and repair irrigation system issues and breaks
- Daily Scouting for disease
- Qualified candidates including those currently in turf school that expect to graduate in Spring 2025 are encouraged to apply.
- 2-4 year degree in Turf grass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in golf course maintenance practices.
- Strong knowledge of turf grass management practices, irrigation systems, and equipment operation.
- Pesticide applicator's license or ability to obtain one within 6 months time.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and people skills.
