need to improve your game. Job Title: Golf Course Spray Technician
The Golf Course Spray Technician is responsible for applying various treatments to the golf course grounds, including fairways, greens, tees, and roughs to maintain the health and appearance of the golf course turf and landscape. They ensure proper application of chemicals in a safe, effective, and environmentally friendly manner, working closely with golf course management. The role involves ensuring that the course meets the desired aesthetic standards while promoting the longevity and vitality of the grass and plants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers to golf course turf.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all chemical applications, including product name, quantities used, dates, areas treated, and timing.
- Monitor weather conditions to determine the best time for spraying and avoid unfavorable conditions.
- Mix and prepare chemicals in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain sprayers, spreaders, and other chemical application equipment.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated correctly for even distribution and to avoid over-application or wastage.
- Follow all safety protocols related to chemical application, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure that the golf course and surrounding areas are safe for both staff and golfers during and after application.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding pesticide use and environmental protection.
- Inspect the turf regularly to detect signs of disease, pests, or nutrient deficiencies.
- Report any concerns or irregularities in the health of the turf to golf course management.
- Work closely with the grounds crew and golf course superintendent to plan and schedule treatments.
- Provide recommendations to the management team regarding turf care and maintenance strategies.
- Assist with other golf course maintenance tasks when needed, such as mowing or irrigation.
- Experience: Previous experience in turf management, golf course maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with pesticide and fertilizer application techniques, turfgrass management, and equipment operation.
- Certifications: Depending on location, a pesticide applicator's license or certification may be required.
- Skills: Ability to operate spraying and fertilization equipment, good attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
- A degree or certification in agronomy, horticulture, turf management, or a related field is a plus.
- 2-3 years experience in related field.
- Salary is commensurate with experience. $18-$21/hr
